Does anybody have applied for Australian Citizenship by conferral and got it refused because of residence requirement?

Please comment and suggest?

Only if you park outside someone else's residence (in St. Kilda) and get a parking fine (and get outraged by it and start a thread on here).

No I haven't any help on the matter but would be interested to hear opinions. (mainly because I am noesy!)

No figures on the reason for refusal in the other 4%.

Out of interest, what's Australian Citizenship by conferral? Does it mean you're applying for citizenship on special grounds, even though you don't meet the residency requirements?

Since 1 July 2007, "conferral" is the term used for naturalisation (also known previously as "grant" of citizenship).

re the OP - surely if you don't meet the residency requirements it would be refused as a matter of course? I bet the 96% approval is because 96% of people wait until they are eligible before they apply.

Didnt you ask in a previous thread about getting exemption from the residence requirement ?

Either you have the correct resident requirement or you dont. If you dont then your application is refused surely. If you claim an exemption then its pretty clear as to who can claim exemption.

You mean 96% are best character people. Among people of this so called best character we have people raping teenagers, people smuggling drugs (Corby),people facing sentences in jail.....

Yeah I hate people that rape teenagers. They are far worse than other people who just rape adults, or babies....

To get an exemption is a different thing then application refusal.More than 80% people have failed the citizenship test currently so they will face application refusal or exemption termed as significant hardship***

If we are getting best people(best migrants from overseas) then who is making these people worse?Why they loose their character after entering Australia?
