After 3 months mate. We only found out because Steve's company want him to do government work, which he can't do without being a citizen. So they consulted an immigration lawyer who found out about it and so we applied. Not heard anything yet though.
Although there is a bit on the form about someone who has known you for at least 12 months they waive that too - which is only common sense if they let you apply after 3 months.

We applied back in August and have just sorted out our interview (due to moving from Darwin to Brisbane in the meantime). We wanted to get the interview out the way and the waiting list for Brisbane is about 4 months 
So we're off to the Gold Coast in 3 weeks instead 
The way the queues are, maybe we'll make Australia Day 2009 for our ceremony

Just a thought with all the people doing the on-line version before oct 1st how are they going to cope with all the extra people? Not only will they have queues of people waiting for the ceremony, but if they carry on with them every 3 months or so we could be here in a years time waiting.

Whilst they say they want more people to go for citizenship, doubling the cost to $240 per person is hardly the way to go.

In most other countries (including the U.K.) it costs many times that. And maybe they are not so keen on promoting citizenship as they used to be.

We did our interview before the test came in thank goodness. Had our interview on 18th September and we become official Aussies on 31st October ............... yippppeeeeee. We are very excited and looking forward to it as you can tell.

My husband & I had our interview here on the Gold Coast back in June and just had our ceremony last Wednesday. There were about 60 of us taking the pledge and we covered 28 different countries between us 
I have just joined the forum and noticed a couple of people on here from Aylesbury, Bucks..........are there any more?

we validated our visa about 3 years ago but only moved out here permanently about 2 months ago so how long do we have to be in australia before we can take citizenship?
will it be after 2 years or 4?
