Default Christmas Tree and Dec's

Hi all,

we are due to move out to QLD about Feb time, and now starting to get stuff ready for shipping, just wondering is it worth bringing our xmas tree and dec's ? can you get real xmas tree's out in Oz ? and what are the prices of dec's and lights like ?

Many thanks in advance

Be careful when bringing decorations - AQIS will destroy anything with pine cones because of the seeds.
As for prices of them here, couldn't tell you I'm afraid - never bought any!

I know about pine cones and customs, all the pine dec's are going in the bin soon anyway, just a bit unsure to bring the other dec's and tree or not.

thanks anyway

Do you like the tree and decorations - then bring them.

I would not have left our tree and 20 years of memories, we still get a thrill putting them up and remembering.

Christmas decorations here and lights are like everything else you can buy cheap as chips stuff or splash out and go expensive. You will be able to get all the christmas stuff you want here.

Cheers

Same as anything else, if you like it bring it.

We brought our decorations but we normally have a real tree. This year we decided to buy a fake tree and we decided to get some new decs, with a different colour theme so didn't use the ones we brought anyway. Prices are just normal really.

If there's nothing wrong with them and you like them then just bring them. Lights for example, I'd say can be expensive here. I have an led net of lights on my tree and from looking around, the only place here I could get a net was the Christmas shop and they were nearly $200! I don't think so!

It all depends on what you've got and what you want, if it's good stuff and you want similar then it will most likely cost you a bit to replace with similar stuff, otherwise you can pick up some good deals.

I gave my tree away & bought a new one here (had to be white still though) but I bought all my tree decorations as all of my kids have been involved in buying them over the years so a lot of memories (& tears when putting the decorations up). I also bought all the kids Christmas stockings even though it may be some time before my older kids are here at Christmas to benefit from their stockings.

I only bought a couple of sets of lights with me which just had standard plugs on them as hubby pointed out the ones with the transformers on would be a bit heavy in an adapter plug here. So I gave away my lovely hanging star set & all the others with transformer plugs on.
