How the hell , in a population of 22M, which has had on record a horrendous housing shortage for decades suddenly have house price inflation because of a few chinese people with money. What a load of tripe.
The very fact that this country has such a huge rental market, and taxation policies to support that, should be enough for the average dolt to realise there is a shortage of stock. A shortage recognised at government level as such a problem that they put taxation policies in place to alleviate it to encourage private sector wealth to increase the housing stock.
Sounds like more poorly researched tripe, typical aussie media. Here's a tip - read the Guardian, Telegraph and Times websites before flipping over to news.com.au for a bit of light entertainment.

I'd agree. But I wonder, do the Spanish say the same about the British perhaps ?

The Australian media has historically always like Asians. Gives them a racial stereotype to blame for every ill in Australia, because they it means it wasn't the poor hardworking Aussie that caused it all.

If it was'nt for China buying up our resources the OZ economy would be in recession like Europe and the USA, so l don't think Aussies are blaming Chinese for their ills.

Nothing to do with racism - you have to be blind if you don't see the enormous increase in the Chinese population in Sydney, at least.

"P/C"? Maybe. Observant enough to notice that you often post similarly provocative topics? Definitely. What was that recent one where somebody accused you of trolling? Something to do with "boat people", IIRC.

Re: Chinese money drives up house prices
Australia escaped recession at least in part via rampant government spending & handouts. You know, paying people to put in insulation then paying them to take it out again - that sort of thing.

Much of Australian econmy has become a colony for China[and now it is moving to the housing market]much of this will be so-called 'hot' money fleeing a serious downturn in the chinese economy/financial system.Very controversial--I know;but think about it and inwardly digest the implications.

Seems like Oz and the US are owned by the Chinese nowadays, isn't it? They are our new masters. The Chinese are buying up Oz's natural resources and property, they buy our debt.

Yes l think China has now overtaken the Uk as the number one source of immigrants, Most Chinese, Indians and non English speaking migrants move to Sydney and Melbounre, while most migrants from English speaking countries like the UK, NZ and SA tend to move to Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide.
