Question children now want to come as well!

Hi my friend has asked me to ask a couple of questions,
She came out to western Australia 3 months ago with husband and three of her children, older two did not want to go out with her,
They now do,one is starting uni here in sept the other is in uni now.
The problem is she just went to the uni in/near Bunbury w.a and was told it will be almost $100,000for them to study there, which she has not got,she has got half,is there any grants the children can apply for or any other help they can get...
hoping somone can answer one way or enougher. Jackie (for denise)

Did your friend include these children on her original visa application. If she didnt, she may experiance difficulty in getting them out here.
Dont quote me on that, but personally I would check with one of the many agents that browse this site.

she thought that she could not include them they were 18/21 at time of her visa application and she was under the impression that they had to be under 18 she did have an agent(it seems not a very good one).
hopfully a good agent will know and reply to this thread.

i reckon the older kids would definately have to have been inc on the original application, if they were not, they would have to apply themselves? again maybe someone with more experience can confirm this.

Hi guys,

The fact the children were not included in the application is only one of the issues; to correctly answer your question I need to know the type of visa your freind holds; I am a Migration Agent and will be happy to answer your questions on this forum.

Kind regards
Andre

This could be a very difficult case. Assuming she has a PR (migration) visa ...

Children aged 18 or over may or may not be dependent. If they are not dependent then there is a problem sponsoring for a visa.

If they *are* dependent (which it sounds like they may be) then the first thing DIMIA will want to know when a Dependent Child visa application is lodged, will be why they were not included on the original PR application. If things go really badly, they might even try to cancel the PR visa. This has got to be treated with respect.

Your friend needs a seriously good migration agent on her case. She could contact IARC in Sydney and ask to be referred to a competent practitioner in Perth.

This seems to be happening a lot - older children left off a visa application (or sometimes refused on the basis of not being dependent), causing a visa crisis for the family later.
