Im currently a registered childminder in the Uk, where moving to Brisbane, hopefully ormeau when we get our 457 visa. Can anyone give me any info about becoming a child minder in OZ. Do they need child minders in that area? do you have to register with the government etc?

Hi emma (same name as my childminder - she is an utter star) type in childcare and childminder and some stuff will come up. I remember seeing posts about this issue and asking the same question - from a parent point of view but simply can't remember what was said. Additionally, google dept for education and training in queens land (just tried it) and the dept comes up. I would get it from the horses mouth as well as from peoples experience. I contacted the act dept about childminders but noticed that they also catered for those in the profession and they also directed me to links. Drop them an email ask what you need to ask but also ask if they can advise of where info is held if they can't assist. I think every state may be a bit different in how they respond. Good luck
