I'm trying to organise a chq from my bank payable to 'department of immigration and mulicultural affairs' to go with my visa application but bank are saying it won't fit on the chq even after shortening deptment to dept.......... can I just get them to put 'DIMA' is this acceptable????

I had the same problem so in the end i didn't want to risk it and paid by Credit Card. So much easier :-)

We were going to send cheque but decided against it as they were taking five days to make it up.

Good point though, never thought about not getting the title in, can you not use a credit card? if you dont have one, or enough limit you can use someone else's, just get them to fill in the CC section and sign it, an give them the money.

Just another option for you.
