Default Chelsea, Victoria

Anyone know much about this suburb? Opinions? I live not too far away at the moment and every time I go there it seems nice enough to me, but thinking about getting on the property ladder somewhere between Mordialloc and Chelsea and one of my Aussie friends was saying Chelsea is a bit grim "locals" wise.

Be interested to hear any thoughts?

Thanks.

Chelsea doesn't have a very good reputation at all. The beach is lovely and any property beachside of the Nepean commands a premium price still but in the streets on the other side the standard of property drops dramatically as does the standard of inhabitant. Do some shopping in the local strip on a Saturday and make your own decisions!

If you are getting on the property ladder for investment purposes though I reckon anywhere Melbourne bayside is a good bet.

No it would be to occupy. Guess I'll have to spend a bit more time down there. The wife and I go to the Longbeach hotel every so often on the weekends and we've always commented on how we don't see any of the "undesirable" types in there.

Looking Parkdale down to Chelsea and Chelsea seems to not only be where the bulk of stock of for sale listings is, but the more affordable, but guess I need to spend a bit more time down there.
