Unless you are buying an end of life model then they will pretty much be the same anywhere you go (give or take $5). I used to work for a distributor who resold iPods to all Australian retailers (in excess of 100,000 a month). I can assure you that Apple set their buy prices so high that it only allows the retailers for a 2% margin. Where they make their money is by selling all those accessories for them.

Yup, there's very little point in shopping around...and Aussie iPod prices are actually pretty good.

Just look out in the Kmart, Target and Big W catalogues to see who has them on offer. We bought from Officeworks as they were the cheapest when we were looking.

I recently bought an 8Gb from Officeworks for $189 which was a price match for Dick Smith who had it for $199.

Was that a Touch ? The website says $248

This website is useful for doing price comparisons on electrical items

http://www.staticice.com.au/

Officeworks has a pricing policy whereby they will beat a competitors advertised price by 5%.

That's second, not third gen. Not necessarily a bad thing, but remember the difference between 8GB and larger models is significant.

Two thoughts:
1) Its £137 in the UK, so you might like to think of someone buying it and sending it out.

2) When I was looking at this, I found the apple stuff horribly overpriced for what it was (the Touch doesn't have quite a few things). I ended up getting an Android phone which was cheaper, had all the bits of a smartphone, and did a hell of a lot more with no interference from the likes of apple.

Officeworks will beat any advertised price by 5pct. So find your cheapest price then take the ad to officeworks and they really will cut the price by 5pct.

They even have to match MSY prices on external hardrives, which is pretty difficult for them.

Should be able to pick up a 3rd gen 8gb IPodtouch at Officeworks for between 200 and 210 bucks.

Hmmm if you can get hold of the Age Green guide then you should see Ipod touches advertised in there for around 230 bucks.... which is where you get the advert to show the people at Kmart/Officeworks. You literally have to go along with the ad, then they phone up headoffice to check that it's a bona fide ad, then they give you the rebate.

I've not seen that policy advertised at Kmart ? It's always on every officeworks advertising blurb and at the front of their shops.

Here you go this ad will get you the Ipod Touch for 232 bucks at office works .... if you wait to the green guide comes out in Melbourne it will be cheaper... and according to Broadshoulds around 220 bucks at Kmart. I've definitely not heard of Kmart doing that though.
