Default Cheap car rental for Perth in 2011

Family of 4 (2 adults/2 children) off to Perth in Feb 2011, looking to hire a car for 3 weeks (pickup from Perth airport).

Any ideas? Would like to get cheap as possible but don't want an old banger

You will pay a premium for picking up at the airport. Anyway you can grab a cab and then hire the next day? What accommodation have you got booked so we can may be post links of nearby rental companies if you take a cab?

I never knew you paid extra for picking up at the airport. We're staying in a house (with drive) in Hillarys

www.carhire3000.com.au

We have used them two year running and were fine. You book it through them but you collect your car from Thrifty or Europa desks at the airport. Remember to get somthing big enough for the luggage we got a nissian x trail 1st year and a ford territory this year. Hope this helps.

Yep kingseat is right. Car hire at Perth airport can be pretty expensive although I'm used to renting in Florida where you get more for less money.

I picked up a Hyundai at Perth airport last summer for 20 days and it cost £395. Depending on when your flight arrives you could try a taxi to http://www.bayswatercarrental.com.au/ they seem to be one of the cheapest.

Alternatively try www.travelsupermarket.com to give you an idea of prices.

You need to change your user name and location my man as you don't want to be down under as your already there and your not located in Renfrewshire.

Similar to OP, I have a 3yr old son and 9 month baby. Any recommendations on car hire firms that can provide a baby seat for the little one? Happy to pay extra charge, but don't want to turn up for them to say they don't have any.

No Birds... Google it... So called coz they were one number short of a brothel and they got sick of saying...sorry we aint got no birds

We didnt pay extra for airport pick up... We took back to burswood, not sure if you pay more for take back to airport..

Even if youre looking for cheap FGS dont skimp on the insurance... Pay the extra for it... Or you could have a VERY expensive reckie

There are 2 car hire places at Scarborough, a few suburbs south of Hillarys. Scarborough has an airport bus service.

This site for airport transers seems to be "under construction", but might be worth a look:

Taxi into the City and into the nearest no birds, will save you a few bob. As already mentioned get the top insurance otherwise it's $3000 for an accident.

The Excess Reduction insurance from the car hire companies can be expensive at around $25 a day to reduce the excess from $3-5,000 to about $300. Check to see if your travel insurance covers it, or pay on a visa card that includes this kind of insurance as long as you pay on that card.
