I love my cats but here in Melbourne where I live we have to keep our cats on our property and they are not allowed out at night. Taking a cat on a leash is not that hard, my niece in UK takes her cat for a walk on a leash.

My present cats stay inside a lot now and I am pleased about that as one of them tends to kill little birds.

My reason for keeping them in, in Cairns would probably be pythons, bringing a cat from the UK will not be as wary as cats that are Aussie born and pythons do like to eat small animals.

Good luck just be careful of the ticks and brush daily.
