Hi,
We booked direct with the, in their London office. I think I will try for the extra bagagge allowance. This is a one ticket, so would be validating the visa at the same time.

we moved to perth on a 457 with sing airlines. they automatically gave us 25kg each, and in fact let us have 30kg each no problem at all. we're moving back to the uk with cathay and i'm trying to get to the bottom of this as well. seems to be dependent on the check-in person which is a right pain. if it were me i'd stick to sing airlines, at least you know you'll get 25kg, and more likely, 30kg each.

We booked with Cathay Pacific 2 days ago to go out on the 27th. I think it cost us around an extra £200 to get 40kg each for the 4 of us. We will probably be nowhere near that but it is a peace of mind thing knowing we don't have to worry.

No, we will validate when we get there. We only got our visa approval 2 days ago.

To the OP, if you haven't already left, look at sending a couplf of tea chests of stuff in advance (if you have a delivery address you can use). If not they can be flown over and are much cheaper than excess baggage. Sorry I can't think of any names off the top of my head buy try googling, loads of em. They'll also quote you for what you specifically want to send.
