Cathay Pacific or Emirates who to fly with?
#16
we flew with emirates last year and although they were very good the one thing that spoiled it was the untold stop over in dubai which we only learnt about when we checked in (nothing was mentioned on the flight times
) - they took us to a hotel at 1 in the morning and then told us we needed to check out again at 6! with 2 young children in tow i would have preferred to have just stayed in the airport.
my parents flew with cathay only last week and changed flight in hong kong but from there to brisbane they had a stop in cairns which again wasnt on the flight times.
why do they do that!

I have flown with Emirates, Cathay Pacific AND Singapore Airlines in the last 3 weeks (we did 9 flights in 2 weeks - madness)!!
I would definately rate Emirates the highest. The entertainment system (ICE) is second to none and the extra baggage allowance was certainly great for us.
I found the new seats on Cathay Pacific very uncomfortable - not a nice flight from LHR to HKK!!
The staff on Singapore Airlines couldn't be nicer and Singapore is a great airport but they generally tend to be that bit more expensive (in my experience).
So all in all i'd go for Emirates but that's just my humble view!

I found the seat on Cathay Pacific the most uncomfy I have ever sat on, and that includes Ryan air seats in the UK!
As someone else said, they don't recline, but the seat parts moves forward. I'm only 5'7 so I can't blame the seat problem on my height!
Granted that everything else was fine, I would not like to sit on a Cathay Pacific plane again for the 21 hours it took from Perth to London

Haven't flown with Cathay but we found Emirates to be poor in various ways. Our main problem was that they tried to bump us in Dubai even though we had booked 5 months before, reserved our seats together(confirmed by head office in an email). We didn't however check in online within the 24 hours prior to flying and just turned up at the airport 2.5 hours before our flight. This was at midnight and we had our two young children with us. They said that sorry but the flight was fully booked. I had to kick up and they eventually let us on. Definately not impressed

It's clear from this thread there is no best. Pick the cheapest.
