Default Cathay Pacific - any thoughts?

Hi!

Cathay pacific seem to be the cheapest for june time to perth... we've been quoted £1386 for 2 adults and a 3 year old, one way to perth with 3 nights in hong kong staying at http://www.metroparkhotel.com/

Anyone flown cathay apcific before? how do the compare to singapore airlines or malaysian airlines?

We have flown with Cathay Pacific twice and they were excellent. On a par with Singapore Airlines I would say. We have never flown with Malaysian Airlines so cannot comment on them!!

Thumbs up here for Cathay - as said before - excellent service and flights generally only 75% full - so eyes out for the spare seats after the seatbelt light goes out - plenty of 4 seat rows empty for a nice full length 7 hour kip on the way out / home!

IMHO a far more interesting stopover too than Singapore or Dubai etc (been to all 3).

Used to fly out of Manchester via Frankfurt and HK but don't think they do this any more.

Malaysian airlines = bigger seat in cattle and better premium cabins. Always fly them now since they are considerably cheaper than Singapore and with a better product.

Dont like Cathay because any sector that involves a stop in HK will usually mean a crappy old plane for the Australian leg.

Hi

We are looking to go the same route (if we ever get our visa) and would love a stop over in Hong Kong. That seems like a really good deal. Most of the flights alone I have seen are about £500 each, one way. Who was that deal through? We would love to know.

Have flown to Aus with JAL, Malaysian and Thai and they were all very good (Thai has fantastic leg room but no TV's on the back of seats, but great service).

We have flown with Cathay 3 times. On all but 1 leg they were fantastic.... On that occasion we had a turbulent flight, seat belt signs were on and nobody would answer my call for help. 9month old daughter distressed cos she was hungry and then they had a go at me because I got out of my seat to get her bottle..... Apart from that 1 incident I found it very easy to travel with children. Airport staff were helpful about checking in pushchairs etc. If you join the asia miles club then you can skip the queues at check-in.....

Hi,

the quote I got was through a company called travelmood.com, I called them and got the quote over the phone, I'm booking it next week. I've flown with singapore airlines, malaysian airlines, JAL, emirates and Lauda before, and never really had a bad flight.. I hope cathay pacific are as good as the others ive used! Can anyone tell me what sort of entertainment system they have in their planes?

What visa are you waiting for?

Last flew with Cathay in 2005 (UK -> Cairns via HK), in-flight entertainment was pretty much the same as any other airline (Movies, TV, Music).
