How difficult is it to find rental accommodation where you can have a cat. We have one rather silly but very lovable black fluffy moggie aged about 5ish (we got her from a rescue centre so not quite sure how old she is) who we intend to bring with us, but we were a little concerned that it might make finding accommodation a problem. I know several people have managed it, so know it can be done but any advise would be gratefully accepted. Also how did they cope with the flights, quarantine etc? Velvet is quite nervous but I can't bear the thought of leaving her behind as it's taken so long to gain her trust.

We brought our two moggies - both 11 and rescue cats - and they were no trouble at all as far as rental accommodation was concerned. We did have problems but that was because we also brought our large, long-haired German Shepherd as well.
Had it just been the cats it would have been a different story. However, we found somewhere in the end and the cats are loving it here. They have always been indoor cats and they love the warmth and the space they have - much more than they had in the UK. Took one of them out to show her the garden the other day but she wasn't impressed and wanted to come straight back in.
I'm assuming they travelled okay - they didn't like going to the vets five miles away in the UK, but we took them on for life and there's no way we'd have left them behind. They're our *babies*. They had 3 weeks in cattery before leaving UK, the flight, then quarantine for 30 days, then a further 3 weeks in cattery while we found somewhere to live. And they came out tails up, somewhat slimmer (which they needed to be) and purring all the way home. They did have some diarrhoea for a while, but this resolved as soon as they got home so was almost certainly dietary in origin, or perhaps stress. But they're as happy as Larry now.

HTH. Good luck.
Sue
