Default Carpentry work Melbourne

Hi just wondering if any one can help me find out if there is much carpentry work at the minute around Melbourne or if anybody has any contacts, I have been a carpenter for 16yrs and worked as charge hand and foreman. We are from Northern Ireland and there is no work here at all, we are planning a move very soon as we are living on savings, hope somebody can be of help.

I'm a carpenter and things were slowing down when visited friends in Melbourne in May.

Also visited sunshine coast where we are moving to in 2009 and housing boom there was also just starting to ease off.

There was good money in standing frames and trusses though so a steady supply of new housing would create good work and better than hanging doors anyday!

Where land is still being released are best areas, likes of Sydney very quiet apart from way out west but even the new suburbs they are building out there have really slowed down, LendLease just laid off my cousin from management position and they are one of the big boys so cutting down happeneing from the top unfortunately!
