car insurance
Hi
I am currently ordering a car ready for my arrival in five weeks time but am not sure how the motor insurance works in WA. Has anyone managed to arrange motor insurance pre arrival or do you have to first have an Australian address.
Thanks a lit
Iggy

U are insured 3rd party F&T, from when u receive the car. So u can drive away from deaership ok.
Maybe need an aussie address for your Rego( Car log book etc) details to be returned to you.
Insurance companies here ...same as uk...just phone to get cover..
Best getting quotes on line
SGIO is one insurer .Can do a search
Remember to bring proof of no claims bonus in writing. This is valid here in oz.
Also getting an aussie driving license too.
Premiums are a lot cheaper here....

Thanks Muzza
I can see this is going to be a problem picking up our new car until we have an address. Can't really see a way around it

U will be able to drive ur car any time...just riskier with third party .
I would get your self a PO box address as soon as you arrive, set up the same day and provide this address to dealership for correspondence... some internet cafes provide this service.
Have u any mates in oz ...use their address for getting fully comp cover.
Should see no probs..people here are more efficient in dealing with this kinda thing...no red tape believe it or not.
