Default Canberra where to visit?

We are planning to visit Canberra can someone that lives there
or anyone else please give us some names of areas to visit from a
living there point of view, not from a tourist viewpoint. It would be seriously
daft for us to go home without at least having a look at Canberra.

If we were to move there then somewhere near the shops, schools, entertainment etc.

Any ideas?

Once you get to Canberra don't forget to post your perceptions of the place on the forum, it should make entertaining reading.

You should go to the snow fields nearby if you are going in the next couple of months.

No I would leave tommorow but we will wait for Citizenship first, Oh and the minor detail of selling up. Our deadline for going home is by the time the boy starts school so thats about 3 years max. If for some reason we sell up early then we might do a 6 month stint somewhere like Canberra before going home, just in case.

Thanks Sarah, Well we will almost certainly rent for a while and not buy like we did last time. Somewhere with the affluence of somwhere like Hornsby or Solihull in the UK, Low crime, Near a good school (Primary and Secondary). Near a decent shopping complex. No mozzies or flies. Preferably close to places to eat out. As for the property 4-5 bedrooms, 3 off road car spaces, double garage, and a bit of a garden for the dogs.

Oh and near to other poms would be a bonus.
