Can you rent a house while out on a holiday visa????? We're waiting for PR visa to go through the process and if visa not granted by December we thought we'd go on a holiday visa and wait for it out there, however just wondered if there was any restrictions on renting a house if your only on a holiday visa???

Thanks

There are no restrictions on renting on a holiday visa as far as I know. The only problem you may have is convincing a landord to rent to you long term.

They don't ask you your visa status - but they will want to see plenty of funds in the bank, which is where you may have a problem. I suggest you look into bank accounts that will accept holiday visa applicants.

You will need to inform DIAC that you will be in the country as they can't grant your visa when you are here, you will have to leave for them to grant it (in NZ maybe??)

Also if immigration think you are moving here permanently on a holiday visa they could refuse you entry, even though you have a PR application in.

Thanks for that Wendy! Never thought about the bank account, just assumed that you could open an account from this end!!! Something to think about anyway!!!

Cheers,
