Default can I have my NHS op in OZ?

I've got a real dilemma.

Been offered a job on a 457 whilst we await our 136 but I have an Op on my hand in the NHS waiting list (no date yet) Is there any way with the countries reciprocal agreements I can simply get this done over there?

If not will Private health insurance cover it?

Reciprocal cover is only for emergencies.

I doubt if any insurer will cover you for a planned operation unless you took out the cover before the condition was discovered. There is usually a waiting time before any private insurance will cover existing conditions.

You may well have to pay for it yourself if you have it done in Australia.

Unless anyone knows different.....

That's what I think too. If it was me I'd wait for the PR visa and have the Op here before I went.
