Default campervan rego

Hi guys,
can anyone please tell me if its okay to not renew the rego on a campervan (NSW plates), store it for a couple of months, and then apply for a rego? Or is it just easier and cheaper to keep renewing the rego, even though it wont be used for a while? Thanks heaps!
ps. if we buy a campervan, what kinds of pink slips, papers and documents should be coming with it?

My understanding is rego is essential and there are penalties for late payment, they request your number plate back (if my memory is correct)

I don't know if Oz have the equivalent of SORN, so worth looking at this.

We bought an old campervan and only got paperwork for the vehicle, as with any vehicle purchase. If you are buying something more expensive/new you may wish to ensure that you have paperwork, guarantees etc for the appliances.

You MAY find that once it is out of registration, you MAY need to pay extra to get it re-registered later. eg to get a blue slip.
You may be OK within a 3 month period though.

see www.rta.nsw.gov.au
