New figures show there has been a 45 per cent increase in the number of short-term unemployed in Australia.
Centrelink figures show the number of people who've been looking for work for less than 12 months jumped 45 per cent to 203 thousand between September 2008 and February this year.
The Sun Herald reports 577,000 short and long-term job seekers are now getting some form of income support .. a rise of 17 per cent.
In Sydney new areas of disadvantage are emerging, there has been leaps of more than 40 per cent in the short-term jobless rate in Baulkham Hills, Chatswood, Ryde and Hornsby.

Sit on your arse, ringing round people, trawling the job ads won't find you work.
You need to get off your backside and physically trawl the sites instead. You will have more luck...trust me

Says who? Always preferred the 'get aff yer erse and go and look approach' and can honestly say that 99% of my jobs have been through going looking rather than the so called 70% who you know! Times are hard but seek and you shall find!
