Default Calling all carpenters - where to work ?

I am still undecided as to where i should settle in Australia. I am a carpenter and was originally thinking of Perth, however all the other major cities are appealing too, particularly Brisbane. So can anyone tell me where the most work is for carpenters and what you think is a good hourly rate for sub contractors. I would love to go to Sydney but all that I read is that you need to be loaded to get on the property market out there. Your thoughts will help me greatly.

There is building booms all over the place at the moment, especially perth I think, Queensland also, my hubby has never been out of work in the 2 and a half years we have been here, we are on the GC, average hourly rate is $30, if you head up to nearer Cairns average is $35-$40 an hour as a subbie
