having arrived in cairns in january and expecting the worst we have found people have exaggerated the humidity, it wasnt the people who live here that tell you that its to humid it tends to be those who are here for a couple of weeks holiday that say it.
My lads play in 7 football teams between them and what humidity there has been has never affected them.
Good thing about cairns is we dont get the extreme 40/45 heat that the rest of australia gets, or so we are led to believe from the locals and of course we dont have to cope with the water restrictions that some of the rest of the country have.
To be honest I can count on one hand the times we have felt the humidity and I could only tell that because my glasses steamed up.

Several tradies have arrived here over the last couple of years and not one of them have ever said they would move on due to the weather conditions.
That says something I reckon.
They have adapted to the conditions.
Yes some days are uncomfortable. So what ?
It's relatively a very few in exchange for what is gained by living here.

Having come from Manchester the rain here is a lot less. It doesn't rain all through summer..as we were led to believe and when it does it is refreshing.
It does get humid in summer, December and Jan usually worse but I can honestly say that it has been maybe 5 days that I really felt it last year. That was my first summer and you adapt. Housework is the biggest challenge..a swimming pool is a must for jumping in after housework or mowing the lawn!!
Then comes wonderful winter and the humid days are soon forgotten!
As said before, it isn't humid every day through summer...Cairns is beautiful.
