Back to the original poster - well done for choosing Cairns:D Be prepared to live in shorts and t-shirts! One thing is for sure, clothing yourself is cheap as chips! We must have saved hundreds of dollars just on clothes alone - thats gotta be good eh!

Oh and dont worry about the 'nasties' people love it - we had the same b4 we came here - its really not that bad, honest.

Dont panic WW! Most people in Britain have never heard of Cairns:) Its become more recognised now because of the 'nurse situ'. When that is sorted we will fade into the background once again:)

Hi guys, i hope too start applying for a job in cairns myself soon, just wondered if there is much of a young social life? Im 27 and will be going on my own and dont wanna be socialising with a load of oldies.... no offence to the oldies!

I haven't been there since 1993 but back then and I think still is a big party town....there are loads of bars, nightclubs, restaurants, pubs etc plenty to do for the young and older people (like me) :thumbsup:
