Default Buying your way in???

Just been having a conversation with my cousin about us emigrating to Aus.
He said that we can just buy our way in, if we stump up $100,000. I've never heard of this before. Is he right or has he got his information wrong?
I'm certain this can't be right as why the heck are we all waiting like daft kippers for our visa's.

Cheers

wrong,,

The $100,000 only gives you 5 more extra points.

Do a search on points system, or look at the DIMIA website for more info.

Yeah, but I doubt that guy was capable of carrying out his threat.

As a matter of interest, there must be an amount of money that lets you buy your way in. For example Barry Sheen (motorbike guy) managed to move to Aus even with bad health, so money talks in that case. I wonder if someone who had been refused would be allowed in if they won the lotto?
