Buying Sunnies - Let's see yours!
Ok I'm not buying expensive ones as I will lose them. I picked up a pair of Oakleys the ones that everyone has now - but then lost them 4 weeks later - easy come, easy go.
Can anyone state reliably what the 'minimum' safety standard is - in Australia - for protecting your eyes against UVA A/B/C etc yadda yadda

I find I need mine throughout the year, more so in summer for obvious reasons. I got some Oakleys (A frames) two years ago and can't live without them despite them costing a small fortune. You can't put a price on your eyes I say and I'm prepared to spend the money for the protection. I can never understand why people buy cheap sunnies which do bugger all to protect the eyes.

No idea what the minimum is in Oz but I imagine they are pretty hot on this stuff as its a litigious culture with a heck of a lot of UV rays blazing away.

Hot off the press: the new sun glasses standards for Oz:
http://www.standards.com.au/STANDARD...SUNGLASSES.HTM
NB. I always wore sunnies in Oz, whereas I find they are useful in the UK only in Autumn when the sun is always near the horizon, blinding you. Also, my glasses for short-sight have a UV protective coating on them that meets the standards and you wouldn't know it was there, so all this dark glasses and protection stuff may be a bit of a myth.

I don't know about Oz, but Watchdog over here showed that the expensive brands offer no more protection than the cheapos! As long as they say 400 or whatever it is they are all much the same. I would imagine they would need to be stronger in Oz though.

Don't have a photo I can post i'm afraid, but mine are (honestly) - pink.......!! Dagboy & Mrs D have seen them too, so they'll vouch for me! I have been viewing Oz through rose-tinted specs......!!

I have some armani sunglasses - 60's retro style, black frames with some grey around the eye bits.
Only wore them half a dozen times before the pain of contact lenses made me go back to glasses.
I'm selling them dead cheap if anyones interested.
£15, cost me £75.

There is a link here to the Cancer Council's recommendations for sunnies............. https://www.cancersa.org.au/i-cms_shop?
I always wear them when I am outside - the sun is just TOO bright here to go without, but mine are prescription glasses.

I have photochromic prescription glasses, have done for years (not the same pair, LOL!)
I also have prescription sunnies as I find them better for driving in bright conditions over here, let alone in Aus.

I wear my shades al the time, I hate glare even over here in the winter when the sun is low. I got mine from free spirit cost £30 they really block out the glare. no photo as my computer has gone now
