(Hope that this has worked!)
Taken last night this really shows how populated the UK and Netherlands are , even compared to other parts of Europe.
A look at Australia at night, particularly in the Perth region is such a contrast!
Website is worth a look:

nice one - I have the whole world as my desktop and it shows bugger all in Aus! You can also see the continental divide in the United States. Much more people live East than West.

WEST Australians should brace for power cuts next month because the State's generating capacity is so stretched that it may be unable to absorb the impact of a routine maintenance shutdown, an internal Western Power document has warned.
The confidential memo, from one of Western Power's most senior production executives, highlights the precarious state of WA's electricity supply and its vulnerability to minor difficulties.

1) undeveloped countries
2) uninhabitable regions (tundra, desert)
3) heavy agricultural activity
There is a scientific term for these regions MAMBA.
Miles and Miles of Bugger All.
Some use MAMFA...don't know why?

The Eastern side of the USA is more populated than I realised.
Looking at this makes me realise that the UK is one of the most over populated parts of the world.

This was not taken last night. This website does not provide real photographs - they are just mock ups. Did you really think that they send up a satellite to exactly where you specify and get it to take a photo just for you ?
