Have been offered a job in Bunderburg. Dont now the area, hubby from manly NSW and he is not keen. I being a pom wanted to know it there was any other poms up there, or is it to remote. The job is paying $110.000 plus 15% sup is this average pay for that area and would you be able to live on that and hubbys wage(plumber) in and around Bundaburg. At present we live in Yorkshire. Thanks

Yes there are plenty of expats in Bundaberg and that wage is probably double the average and super 6% higher.
House prices are also very reasonable.

Bundaburg is regional not remote and house prices are cheaper, quite a few shops and bars. There can be a large amounts of backpackers in town but $110k for Bundy is really good money I'd take it.

I did a bit of work in Bundy in the 90's. From memory I'd say its a largish country town. Now living in Sydney I'd love the chance to move somewhere like there but its down to personal preference, its not a bright lights, glamourous place like Sydney at all.

Excellent salary with not too bad house prices. I'd chance it for a year or two. Good luck.

i lived in bundy many moons ago. and loved it. start work early, finish work early then down to mon repos for a quick surf and home for a bbq. on our RDO it was up to 1770 for a surf at one of the best beaches in the world. ahhh can still remember catching those perfect tubes on a Monday and being the only one in the water ( will tell you the shark stories later). if it was summer then you can go back to mons or stay late and see the turtles laying and hatching.

If you are used to living in a regional centre then you will be fine. Its a nice town with a good heritage and loads to see. the new museum on Bert Hinkler is fab. Despite what some people think their is actually loads to see in the area (Mt Perry and the boolboonda tunnel for one).

i would happily go back and spend the rest of my life in the town.

Hi, I live in Hervey Bay (about hour an half from Bundy) and don't know a lot about Bundy itself except Bagara Beach nearby is lovely, and I went to see the turtles hatch at Mon Repos which was amazing. You also have Lady Elliott and Lady Musgrave Islands nearby, amazing places, the start of the Great Barrier Reef.
Bundy is also 45 mins from Childers which has a few wineries and is a nice old town.
So loads to do around Bundy.
The town centre of Bundy itself is, as a previous poster said, a big old country town, but all the usual shops are there.
Definitely worth giving it a go.
