Default Building Costs (for self builders)

One builder has had 5 jobs disappear.

Should also start seeing a drop in building commodity prices as overgeared suppliers seek too stimulate demand.

Smaller builders are losing jobs as they are more expensive, however you get what you pay for in this world and give me a small builder any day.

Our builder clearly hasn't read this article. Last week he found reason to add another $8k to the already high quote!

The new year is going to prove hard times for builders - if they have not made enough hay.

Many have sailed too close to the wind for far too long and now will shortly be pissing into it too try and maintain unrealistic lifestyles.

Long gone will be 35 hour weeks Mon to Frid (sorry Thursday)

Yes, well this is the problem I have. Don't see why I should be subsidising his 9 houses, kids at top private schools, his M Class Merc and regular hols. I, like alot of people are "cutting back" - why are they not???

Takes a while for reality to set in. Do you have to start building in the next 28 days? Can you wait Feb?
