Brissy Bayside - Doctor Recommendations ?
Can anyone recommend a gp in the bayside area, prefer wellington point/cleveland/capalaba. Don't suppose anything like an nhs walkin centre exists here.
Also does anyone have the number or website for the victoria point medical and dental centre ( the one by bunnings ), as I can't find it in the telephone book or google.

Wellington Point - Redlands Medical Center is very good actually. I always go there. All three doctors there are excellent. They dont bulk bill tho - which means just taking the receipt next time your in capalaba.
The dentist in Wellington Point - Theo is also top notch.

We go to Ormiston medical centre. They don't bulk bill but I feel comfortable there so I don't mind. Never had a problem getting an appointment either.

Hi
I'd highly recommend the new practice - Victoria point medical and dental centre! Its fully bulk billing for all ages and x-rays/ pathology are also bulk billed. Lots of very nice Dr's who have came from lots of respected practices all over the place. You can pick up a typed sheet at front desk detailing all the dr's experience and special interests.
If you like a Dr who takes there time to listen to you then Dr Steven Smith is very good - also excellent with children. Dr Paul Iles is an older generation Dr and also takes his time and won't rush you - he is very popular so if you choose to wait for him you can be waiting a long time. Dr Purdie is also lovely and very knowlegeable. Have met most of the dr's since it opened early this year and all have been nice and thorough. There is a big treatment room which deals with all minor injuries (great for parents to know) - they can cope with suturing, they have child friendly skin glue, they can do plastering - anything really and will save you a huge wait at Redlands emergency. People with wounds are generally taken straight to the treatment room and seen fairly quickly.
I have checked my fridge magnet for the contact details - (07) 3401 9555. The medical centre is open 7am-10pm 7 days a week and is also open on public holidays.

Hey Beachgal
I'm glad your experience with them was a happy one, not sure how long ago you visited Vic Pt (it hasn't been open too long) but my experiences with them have been far from happy. Long queues, rush in/rush out, disinterested staff and a misdiagnosis that I had to get sorted at another practice.
Someone else has already said above that you get what you pay for - I don't want to be treated like cattle and I want staff who seem attentive and at least appear to want to be at work. Some of the staff I came across there couldn't even talk to my distressed 11yr old girl properly and just kept talking to me which increased her anxiety level no end - pretty basic stuff seeing as she was the one that needed treatment!
This is my experience but I've got 2 other friends who will never go there again for similar reasons. 3/10
Just my ten cents.
