Default Brisbanites choice

Living in and around Brissie offers an abundance of things to do, but do you prefer heading north or south of the city at the weekend?

North & the further north the better - unless you go down into NSW, south is tacky & overcrowded.

Have only been on holiday to Brisbane for 3 weeks as yet but definitely the sunshine coast , stayed in a lovely house up near Noosa for a week. Didnt like the gold coast much at all.

Sunshine coast, gold coast is alright for a spell on the themeparks or if your 18 - 25 the party drug scene but then I'm a bit old for that , traffics a total nightmare in summer too. Best thing about gold coast is the 4 lane highway out of the coast to bris must be one of the newest and best roads in OZ, they need one this way too.

We agree with what everyone else has said on this thread, we love heading North.
Mooloolaba, Coloundra and Noosa are amongst our favourite weekend destinations, all being equal we will be moving to Noosa once our commitment to kids ends in around 20 yrs
We hate the Gold Coast, find it repulsive and would not live there for free. Great for the young ones looking for a hedonistic weekend though.

Greatest of respect for GoldCoasters ! but to be honest its like Blackpool with better homes and weather.

I prefer the tranquility of Noosa+

Give me RainBow Beach anyday !!!!

That's exactly how I described it the first time we went there!

Though in answer to your poll, I'd go for option C. Everywhere is somewhere new at the mo so it doesn't matter

Looks like up north for the oldies while the youngsters head south.

Just spent a week at Broadbeach and loved it.

Yep, the Gold Coast front IS horrid, but it's more like Miami than Blackpool.

Conversely the GC Hinterland is a copy of Hollywood, and attracts more wealthy Aussies to live there than any other area.

Noosa is close behind in its draw to the wealthy, a pseudo St Tropez.

As for Rainbow Beach, now you're talking a natural, unspoilt Aussie coastline, awesome for camping boy-scout style, 4x4ing, sand-boarding and fishing. Great for a weekend away.

Y.

Must admit I'm one of the minority that likes the GC especially Broardbeach, Bureighly Heads and Palm Beach. I generally give Surfers a miss. I live South of brissy and so it's much eaiser to get to GC and it's got better roads.

Getting to the SC is a nightmare of traffic jams more often than not and it's futher but I stiil like it and I suffer the traffic jams every now and then.
