Default Brisbane's little quirks

Following on from a thread about Perth.

We found it quite amusing that petrol is cheaper on Wednesdays than any other day of the week (not sure how the changes will affect that).

Yes, gotta love the traffic lights. Also got to love the fact that you can't turn right unless on a filter - evidently we are all too thick to make a judgement call on when there is a sufficiently large gap to cross to the other side of the road.

I have to come into work on the Wynnum Road (from Wakerley, via Cannon Hill etc) to get to work on the north-side and I often experience what I have termed 'Red light hell' on that particular stretch of road.

Other drivers often confuse me for a Tourettes afflicted commuter when this happens.

The way the bar/restaurant staff pour a glass of wine so that it exactly comes to the line on the glass. They have it down to an art. Even if you are a regular.....you will never get more than to the line! (and never get a drink on the house either).

I realise this now makes me sound like a lush!

Pedestrian lights that make you wait for about 4 minutes until they turn green.

Unfortunately cars rule here in Brisbane.

....and the way a green light means that drivers have a few minutes to decide that is is safe to proceed.:curse:

.....buses which leave the Myer Centre but somehow don't make it to the very next stop at Cultural Centre, despite their arrival being heralded by the, ahem, real-time 'information' screens. I think if they dredged the Brisbane river at Victoria bridge they'd find several hundred.

If you mean the fact that the average response-time to a general traffic light transiting from red to a green light is about 5 seconds then I completely agree.
