Our son will be going to High School and our daughter would be still in the equivalent of primary school, so we'd like to be fairly close by to both schools, parks, etc.

Not looking for the most expensive area (couldn't afford it anyway!) We'd be renting at first so would be looking for 3/4 bedroom house in reasonable area.

Am hoping to be doing a hairdressing course, 18 months of which would require me to train in Southport area of Brisbane, so was hoping to get some input on the surrounding areas to help us decide where to live.
