Can Anyone recommend a suburb with good amenities / housing in the Brisbane area (20km radius).

We are heading that way too. I have heard good reports on Samford, Caboolture area, Cashmere and Calamvale also look nice, and also Albany Creek way. When are you hoping to leave? I see you're not that far from us, we are in Essex.

I have heard Calamvale is nice and have seen some nice houses etc on some estate agents sites.
We have only just applied but we are going under the skilled designated area sponsored visa class which can only take 4 months.
How far down the line are you ???.

Jarv,
We went over in April for 2 weeks to have a look around the Brisbane suburbs and there are a load of really nice places with fantastic schools, amenities etc 25 minutes from Brisbane.
They are:
Albany Creek, Eaton Hills, Samford (more expensive property), Ferny Hills, Bunya etc.
We loved the whole area!!

[Hi Dave & Kerry,
Liz & I are heading for Runcorn which is about 16 Kms south of Brisbane. We have looked at web sites of various schools in the area and they all seem pretty good. Friends of mine have been there for 20 odd years and they say they wouldn't wont to be anywhere else.
I will keep you informed when we get there. 16 weeks & counting.
Cheers

I only really know the western suburbs but would recommend most like Kenmore, Toowong, Taringa, St Lucia, Chapel Hill, I think Bardon and The Gap also supposed to be good. All quite close to city, reasonable transport and access to shops etc.

We applied at the end of Feb, front-loaded with police checks, but not medicals. Haven't heard anything yet, hope to hear something by about October time. It's a long wait, it feels like its been ages already. Can you go to Brisbane via the designated area sponsored route?
