Never been to Perth but we chose Brisbane because at least close to other places like NZ, Sydney, Cairns and Melbourne at a push. Whereas Perth is 5 hours to most other places.
Haven't regretted moving to Brisbane so far and even had chance to move to Sydney recently and decided really would much prefer to stay put in Brisbane.

Hi!
We went to visit my bro in Perth (Cottesloe) recently for 4 weeks...lovely place but boy, if you want near the beach, get saving!! Supposedlyu property has gone up 100% in the last year! Their neighbour had a 1 double bed apartment which was going for $700,000!!!!!
You have to move inland to find affordable property. Thats my only input really!! Very nice place though!

Hi there, we have never been yet but have opted for Brisbane. We have some friends in Perth and they love it so I suppose it is down to personal preference. Good luck.

At the end of the day unless you are flush most people end up choosing somewhere around where they can get a job.

I have bene living in Perth for 8 years now and yes its lovely beaches are beautiful its clean and great for kids.House prices have gone up a hell of a lot you will be looking at around$560.000 for something nice now.
Only draw back living here expensive to get anywhere else in OZ.
As for Brisbane the + would be closer n cheaper to get anywhere in OZ.
Good luck had to judge when on holiday though never the same as living in a place.

Its good to hear you all discussing Perth and Brisbane, these are the two places we've narrowed it down to. Although Perth is our 1st choice after reading about the prices of places, we could change our mind !!
Also have to take in to consideration the job opportunities, and schools as well though.
Thanks again xx

Brisbane City - Dump (Drab, Tired looking, quite dirty)
Perth City - 15mins drive to great beaches
Brisbane City - Over an hours drive to decent beaches
If the most important thing about the relocation is saving a few dollars and a few hours in the air for the couple of trips a year most are likely to make then go to Brisbane. It doesnt make any sense but is the only thing I can vagually come up with in favour of Brisbane in this debate.
A more comparable decision would be between Perth and the Sunshine Coast, except the SC isnt a major city with the living and working benefits that that brings. For someone not needing to work at all or work in a CBD environment then the SC would probably be equally as attractive as Perth. IMO.

Read an interesting article recently about migration to and within Australia. WA and SE Qld are getting a lot of overseas and interstate immigration. Difference is WA is getting more people coming to work and contribute economically, whereas SE Qld is getting a lot of people moving there to retire or not work.

Sure, they do contribute to the economy but working people contribute more. Gist of the article in The Australian was that WA would be better off.
