Other ideas: one of the BBQ areas in Southbank that have been built in in the 'new' area that hasn't long been opened (but we would need to be there early to secure the plot) or totally different New Farm Park where there is lots of room to meet. Both would mean packing the eskies and taking a picnic.

It looks like the 20th is OK for most people ... just need the venue.

Thoughts anyone?

Cheers,

BBQ is a good idea but its the same sort of thing, very busy, someone would have to get there early to put up the union jack flag!!!!!!!! HAHA. Not sure if there is anywhere better on not. If most people are like us it would be good in the city area like we have been saying because some will get the bus in so we can all have a drink or 4! Get the conversation flowing!! Can you drink at those bbq areas? I noticed the one near the main pool said no alachol? Not sure if that was just because it was near the water or not?? Pete

From http://www.visitsouthbank.com.au/vis...2/faqs#alcohol

Can you drink alcohol in the parklands?

Yes, but it is permitted only in signed areas - Riverside Green and Formal Gardens Green between 10am & 8pm with the consumption of a substantial meal. South Bank Corporation may remove this authority at any time. You can also drink alcohol in licensed premises.

And I would suggest discretion if you don't want attention from anyone in officialdom

Hi, we live on the South Bank and don't mind going early to the Plough or the BBQ area to bag a table/bbq. Sundays are always busy because of the markets over the weekends but we shouldn't have any problems getting a table as the trade in the pubs is transient.

Sounds good mate, what about bagging a big table at the plough? upstairs or down? Pete. On second thoughts would it be beter for the people with kids to have a BBQ so that the kids dont get bored or cost there parents wods of $$$ in fizzy pop!?? What do you think parents? we dont have kids and I think the others that are just couples will agree that the parents should decide on the venue, pub or bbq?? Pete
