Spring Hill is good. Supposed to be ADSL2+ 24mb connection. I get about 15 meg on average, sometimes as high as 17 meg.

i just got caught with this bloody mess - moved to a new home on a newish estate -plenty of Adsl2+ ports which I'd happily pay for - but noooo my phone line goes through 2 chicken coops and a coathanger before it gets to my house so i cant have adsl2 , adsl1 is all taken... so Im making do on vodaphone dongle wireless which is 39$ for 3g speed and 5gig/mth download - that offer is valid until 31/12/07 - have to sign up for 2yrs - its not bad, lets me work from home, but jeez not very good.

I blame k-rudd

To be fair on Kev07, the guy has only been in the job a couple of weeks, while the former PM and a series of incompetant communication ministers oversaw the introduction of broadband into this country, was in charge for nearly twelve years. I can therefore cannot see logic in blaming him or the new administration.

Its fairly easy to find out what you can get.

A point I think overlooked in the replies given so far.

You need to goto sites like whirlpool, and be prepared to enter a residential telephone number to find exact speed possibly avail' to your location, from nearest exchange.

We are categorized as adsl2 and adsl+, however, our exchange hasnt yet got the capacity to take 8mb/sec speeds+

We get 1.5mb/sec

Good Luck

Telstra/Bigpond did state it was an anomally, and quashed the bill, after I admit we threatened to tell Tracey Grimshaw

Varies from ISP to ISP, but the term "unlimited" can be misleading as the ISP's will slow the rate of MB per second once you reach a certain used amount per day. Need to really read the fineprint.

I may as well be the first person to blame K-Rudd for something , I am sure he will have the opportunity to prove my rant at his errant ways justified in the next 12yrs. ;-)

Im going to drive round his house in bulimba and hack his wi-fi until he gets my exchange upgraded.

Might have better luck annoying Bob Mansfield (Telstra Chairman). They own all the ports etc and are responsible for putting in all the infrastructure. BTW he is living in "The Lodge" in Canberra now.

Well if this was the case, surely it isn't "unlimited", right? And surely it is illegal to use this term to mislead customers?

60 gig is referring to your monthly download limit right?

why is it illegal?

you do have unlimited downloads, just they cap your download speed to 56k after a certain limit has been reached.

Its wrong I agree, but not illegal
