Is Brisbane city lively at night with plenty of bars and restaurants? Some Oz citys seem to close down at night as they are only business centres. I have been to surfers which has plenty of restaurants and bars open at night but does the city itself have plenty to do?

You have to know where to look in Bris - and all other cities in Oz.
Most of the nightlife is in the area of Fortitude Valley - that's where the equivalent of the British town centre type bars and clubs are found.
You'll find that a lot of bars, restaurants and stuff are out in the suburbs. Paddington and West End have lots of bars and restaurants that really come alive around Friday and Saturday nights.
The CBD itself has a few bars but not so many

The other night had a girlie night out. Started off at a couple of bars at south bank then hopped the Ferry to Riverside and a couple of bars there. Some club type music and live bands.....Very good night!

The valley is good for bars and night life, the centre has loads of clubs but you need to know where they are and they have a lockdown at 3 am.

The casino goes on for ever and you can easily find yourself getting a taxi home at 6 in the morning.
