We just moved over to Sydney (again) a month ago and have been spending time with in laws at Greenwich near St Leonard's / Wollstonecraft, although we are moving to a house up in Epping this weekend.
Not surprised you are finding North Sydney a little lonely though, it is a sterile place even during the working week. Plenty going on in Crows Nest but also lots of things happening for families is Lane Cove, we really like it there and my wife has been taking our 3 year old son to various things in Lane Cove over the last 4 weeks.
You can send a message to my wife if you like at seayork2002 and she will be able to give you some good advice, she is a Sydneysider by birth so knows the place inside out.
She will probably be along shortly as she follows me around this place

There is an upside to living here and that is that my husband can walk to the office in 3 mins and the school run is of equal walking distance too. However I will look forward to moving somewhere a little friendlier
Thank you for your message, and I appreciate your advise.
Hope your settling into Sydney life again, keep in touch.
Many thanks

It's good that you're normally an outgoing person, you'll fit right in!! But you've hit the nail on the head when you say it seems overwhelming - of course it is - you're still adjusting your whole life to a new environment and as the stay-at-home-parent/spouse you're also supporting everyone else's transition too. Cut yourself some slack and think about what your expectations really are; you are, after all only a few months into it. I know it can feel lonely but it will get so much better.
So take a breath, I promise that things will get better once you're more active at school and you've organised a few playdates.
Ooh - quick thought. Does your daughter's school operate a 'Class Parent' system? This is someone who's responsible for - among other things - organising social events for the class (parent's dinners, bowling days, etc). If they do then you could get in touch with them and say you'd like to host a morning tea for mums or suggest a parent's dinner out at a local restaurant....
Anyway, sorry I'm not currently more local at the moment but feel free to pm me if it helps - I've been there

Will look into the stuff you suggested, I talked to my daughters teacher today and told her to call me if she needs any additional help too. She was delighted and also informed me how well my girl was doing.

Thanks again for taking the time to help.

Hi,
I am Seayork2002 as mentioned before, we will be moving to Epping shortly but my mum lives in Greenwich and my dad at Eastwood so travel there about's and get meet up different places if required
there is a free magazine called "My child" (I think that is the name) which is monthly and around different places.
I have been around these areas on and off for years so ask away if you feel I may be able to help......also feel free to PM me but at the moment we only have brief internet usage.
