Hi
I'm thinking about moving to Brisbane (from the UK) and I have a question that's been puzzling me. According to my daughter, who just moved to Brisbane, there is a shortage of NEW book shops. (New as in books, not shop!) She says there are loads of secondh-hand bookshops but the new ones that she's been able to find are mostly very small. As I'm a writer who also writes about creative writing, I need regular access to new books and I was wondering if anyone could throw some light on this? And is it the same in other Australian cities? I see there's a Borders' store in Melbourne but it looks relatively small compared to the US and UK brances.
Thanks

Carolin,
Thanks for your input. <s> Perhaps it's just a question of time.

But with the likes of amazon.com, does it really matter these days if a bookshop is there in physical form? You can get your book choice faster, cheaper and more immediately stocked too.
Don't tell me you do your reviews based on chance browsed pickups!
