I can't recommend any books I'm afraid, but I would say that if you can do a reccie it helps the kids understand what's going to happen, and lessens the "fear of the unknown". My eldest was 12 when we came on a reccie, and from the moment we landed he loved the place. He loves the weather, the space, the fact that he can choose "beach bootcamp" as a sports option, etc. He was 13 when we moved which everyone told me was a really difficult age, but he certainly hasn't looked back.

Hi thanks for your reply.

We have been many times to Australia as mum lives there so the kids know it from the holiday perspective..but i suppose what im looking for is the 'kids experiences of emigrating'...what they thought/felt/ worries/ and how their 'journey' began/ended..aimed at kids...

Its good news that your son settled so well and especially at the age of 13 which is around the age my eldest will be.

Someone on here was talking about setting up a website aimed at emigrating kids some time back but I don't know if it ever got off the ground - might be worth a search. Hope it all works out ok for you
