Default Book on Aus' creatures....

Does anyone know if such a book exists ? I think it is wise to try to educate ourselves and our children on the various 'dangers' in Aus. I would like the children to know what to look out for and what it looks like - rather than just 'squashing' any spider they might find - like we do here ?! Also the snakes - what they look like /their habitat - jelly fish especially the Box and when are they most prevalent.

Any ideas/links ?

We've got a great book about all animals in Australia. It's the Australian National Geographic Book on erm...Australian Animals. WE did get it in Oz, but I'm sure you can get it on line from Amazon. It's hardback and weighs a ton but it's packed with intersting information.

I've got one right in front of me. It's called 'Animals of the World: Australia' Obviously part of a series. Written by Paul Hamlyn and published by the Hamlyn Publishing Group Ltd. It's quite an old one though. Came in very handy last week when we were playing the A-B-C game!

A good place to look for books like that is the charity shops. I've picked up a couple from them. The other one I've got is called 'People and Places: In search of Australia' by Readers Digest.
