Hi

I have been getting a feel for job vacancies for my husband and have noticed that some ads say "blue card essential".

What is a blue card???

He is a glazier by trade.

hi

blue card is a safety course card for construction industry based jobs and as of 1st jan this year you need one to work on site.
a lot of job agency's run the course and it takes a few hours listening to health and safety stuff you pay your money and get your blue card i paid $70 shouldn't pay much more than that.
dont worry about it just another form to fill and fee to pay your in oz now!!!!
good luck
Glenn

Thanks Glenn

That's o.k. i was worried it was a much more lengthy process/ higher fee to obtain the card. Just a little hoop to jump through in the scheme of things.

i'm assuming health and safety certs from the u.k do not suffice!

Hi,
You can also do the course online. I think Andrew did his with Bluedog.com. It was also around $70 but only took about 1/2 hour. The best part is that once you have finished you can print out all the paperwork so that you have proof that you have done course while you are waiting for the card to arrive.
Regards
Sarah
