hi many thanx in advance if any1 can give me any advice on the following:
we r in NZ on a work visa at the mo and want to move to queensland.
i am the principle applicant 32 years old and an electrical engineer.
is it worthwhile going for a state sponsered visa or just a skilled visa?? i would prefer to come over with permanent residency, is the state sponsered for qld only for a temp visa???
also is there any good job sites that i could go on to find work.
would anyone recomend any good places to move to in qld, as i have 4 kids it would need to have good schools.
which way round do most folk do things?? get ajob and then find a house and schools in the area or find schools and a house and then a job.
im a cautious person and would prefer to have a job before i move over.
many thanx folks

I think you will have to apply under migrancy rules for whichever visa type you think suits best, as did we all.
The fact you are in kiwiland on a work visa, i think holds very little water in strengthening or expediting your application m8
You should though be able to go for a STNI, if they still do that scheme, im not sure if QLD do..
have a look on the government website www.dimia.gov.au i think it is.. maybe an org !!

here is a link explaining the skilled independent visa, http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener.../175/index.htm
we are applying for this visa ourselves you need to pass the points test and have to be listed on the SODL list its all explained in the link,
the Skilled state sponsored visa 176, here is a link explaining this
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener.../176/index.htm
this visa is used when you don't have enough points for the 175 you can be sponsored by a relative or a state you are obligated to stay in that state for two years once granted the visa. check out the obligations section

Qld only do regional temp visa sponsorship, so if you can do it without far fewer restrictions on you.
