Default Bird flu etc!

Today's news is dominated by the same strain of bird flu which has killed humans in Asia being found in Turkey (jokes about turkeys from Turkey don't seem appropriate somehow). Bans on imports of live and dead poultry and poultry products from Turkey and Romania have been announced and with the discovery of the same strain on the European side of the Urals in Russia it seems this is making it's inevitable way around the world (incl towards the UK).

The UK government has already prepared by ordering and starting to stockpile (at a secret location) enough vaccine to immunise more than half the population. There are warnings of possible world flu epidemics (pandemics are they called?).

Earthquakes, hurricanes, terrorists etc.

I guess like the Crowded House song says we'll just have to open our papers and turn right over to the TV page and just dream that it won't be all over soon?

And on that cheery note!
