The Cow is dry

WE ARE a family of six paying the Medicare levy, private health insurance, government secondary and tertiary fees, as well as every other licence and account at the full rate. We long ago gave up holidays, we don't smoke, rarely drink alcohol and a meal out is a once-a-year event.

Our older children fit casual jobs in between their studies, but lack of public transport leaves me to take them everywhere. We do not ask for anything except the realisation that the cash cow known as my husband's pay cheque has already been milked dry.

E. CONWAY, Wanneroo.
