Have a look at www.drive.com.au (mainly dealer site) or www.carsales.com.au (mainly private - do a search via postcode 4070 is Brisabane west). As for best value, it depends what you're after. We've got family over in Brisbane and they regularly send us the Sunday newspapers. I was having a look at the motoring supplement just yesterday and was genuinely shocked at how affordable some new cars were. Honda Jazz $15000, Hyundai Accent the same, that's' about 25% cheaper than in the UK. So if you're not bother about what you drive then you can get a good deal. If however your after a luxury marque, be prepared to pay for it.

Also there doesn't seem to be a market for really cheap second hand run-arounds . In the UK you get something decent for £500, it doesn't look like you can do the same in OZ.

Unless the price quoted is 'driveaway' then remember to add dealer delivery charges, stamp duty etc. This can all add an extra $2-4k on to the price, although you can negotiate. New cars, apart from some european makes, tend to be cheaper here.
