I am slowly trying to research where is the best part of Oz to work as a nurse! I am probably going to concentrate on the NSW area. Does anyone out there know of goood places/hospitals to look at>
Can anyone tell me the present salary for a staff nurse (medical) with over twenty yrs experience!

Have a look at this web site it may help you with NSW.
My friend's son is a specialist doctor and he prefers to work in Melbourne as he says its a great place for getting on in medicine due to the people who are working in the profession.
Our wages are less than NSW though and he thinks its still worth it. Mind you he is not on low money, lots of loot.
Better give you the web site http://nursing.sesiahs.health.nsw.go...ives/rates.asp

my partner is a nurse and had no problem finding work in nsw, basically you could pick anywhere you wanted to live.
in sydney she worked manly and monavale
loved working at monavale small hospital with views of the beach, great staff.
now at tweed heads north nsw, working casual with asmany shifts as she wants.
wages about same as uk but go up with experience
patient to staff ratio is a lot better
shes only worked in public hospitals so cant comment on the many private ones.
seriously thinking of doing my nurse training as i said you can work anywhere in australia practically and have a good standard of living on the wages

Just had posts on the NZ forums showing me horrible pictures of spiders eating birds!
Whats the wildlife like out there? Are the living standards good? Do you have to do any nursing tests before starting work once you get there?
