The best parts of Perth to Live - FAQ
Hi Guys
Probably one of those frequently asked questions I guess and as the time is drawing closer, and I am still so unsure of where to live in Perth. OH can pretty much choose but would possibly need to be in commuting distance from Perth (I need to find a job) I guess my main priority is Good State Schools for my three children, followed by an idyllic setting everyones list I guess. Seriously I would love to live near the beach but would possibly consider living in a beautiful country setting if schools were good. So any ideas budget around$3-400 PW.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thread and I really do appreciate any feedback

Try looking around Port Kennedy and surrounding area, it's where we are hoping to settle in. Can't give you personal experience as we have not arrived yet

Try this: go to www.reiwa.comau, www.realestate.com.au and www.aussiehome.com, and search for homes in your price range. Note the suburbs that have a decent number, and those where your budget will buy you something you'd be happy living in. Get an idea of what your money will get you.
Then look up the schools in each of your candidate suburbs (try www.aussiemove.com, or REIWA's suburb profiles). Check how they're rated in the schools results (interpret with care, as with all school league tables). Remember that some schools are very strict on enrolment areas (you can usually find maps on the school website), and that the enrolment areas don't always include a complete suburb - you often need to know what streets mark the boundaries.
Make a "top 5" list. Then look for anything else you can think of regarding those suburbs. Download Google Earth (or use maps.google.com.au); use the Street View to look at the area where your favourite houses are. You'll find out that sometimes there's a good, obvious reason why a property is cheap (proximity to a freeway is often a big factor).
And finally: if you can, do a reccie trip and actually drive around!
Cheers
